I specialize in consultation and editing of academic writing in the humanities and in creative non-fiction. I have edited academic essays, dissertations, and books for the scholarly publishing market. I have also worked with writers whose focus is on the personal essay, memoir, or non-fiction for the trade publishing market.  This experience makes me uniquely suited to edit writing headed for varied publishing outlets. 

 

My focus is on supporting writers at the early stages of writing.  I offer consultation for writers who have the beginnings of an idea for a writing project. Consultation can range from a discussion of those ideas to a full-on brainstorming session.  I also offer manuscript consultation and editing plans for those writers who have an early draft—acting as a project consultant in collaboration with the author. For those further along in the writing process I offer developmental and line editing focusing on revision of a nearly finished manuscript .

My editing style is strengths-based—by pointing out areas where the writing is strong, writers can craft additions or revisions based on their own writing strengths and successes.
